Toquinho

Toquinho, the Brazilian musician, first picked up guitar technique through lessons with Paulinho Nogueira. Encountering Chico Buarque at seventeen led him to launch his own music career shortly afterward. By the mid-1960s he had written his debut song, “Lua Cheia,” while also supplying guitar for leading local performers such as Sergio Ricardo and Alaíde Acosta. A sustained professional alliance with Vinicius De Moraes began in 1969. BMG marked his role in Brazilian traditional music by issuing 30 Años De Música in 1997, and Chega de Saudade appeared the following spring in 2001.
