Biography
The minimalist homespun quartet known as Town & Country came together through the efforts of Ben Vida on guitar and trumpet, Josh Abrams handling contrabass and piano, Liz Payne on contrabass, and Jim Dorling with harmonium; each member brought experience from Chicago's avant-garde scene. Boxmedia released their debut self-titled album in 1998, after which Thrill Jockey put out the Decoration Day EP along with the second album It All Has to Do With It during the middle of 2000. In addition, Vida and Payne teamed up with Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello and Michael Colligan on reeds to form Pillow.
