Biography
Tracy Spuehler, recognized as a singer and songwriter, draws frequent comparisons to Aimee Mann while echoing the 1990s alternative rock approach of Tanya Donelly and Juliana Hatfield. A native of Los Angeles, she first entered the music world as a violinist with the Minneapolis-based group Pimentos for Gus. After that band ended, she returned to L.A. and began her solo work in 2001 by issuing the album Six Three One. Four selections from the record entered the playlist at local station KCRW, after which the track "Where Do We Go?" reached a national audience via its inclusion in a Nissan Altima television commercial. Released in 2004, the album It's the Sound earned her a nomination for Best Singer/Songwriter at the 2005 L.A. Weekly Music Awards. The title track appeared in the television series Joan of Arcadia and Life as We Know It as well as the film Mozart and the Whale. The album cut "Double Vision" was later featured on MTV's reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.
