Biography
In the latter half of the 1960s, Tramaine, also recognized as Tramaine Hawkins, performed briefly for roughly two weeks with the Honey Cones before marrying Walter Hawkins and entering the Edwin Hawkins Singers; she then served as a featured vocalist for the Hawkins Family throughout the 1970s. Her first solo releases appeared in the 1980s on the Light, A&M, and Sparrow imprints. Possessing a powerful, belting delivery, she interprets traditional Black gospel material as well as ballads such as "Highway" and "The Potter's House."
