Despite boasting an array of prominent figures from the British blues revival, Tramp never quite lived up to the sum of its distinguished parts. The lineup drew on Mick Fleetwood (drums), Bob Brunning (bass), Danny Kirwan (guitar), Dave Kelly (vocals), Jo Ann Kelly (vocals) and Bob Hall (keyboards). Hall had previously shared leadership duties with Brunning in the Brunning-Hall Sunflower Blues Band. The band’s first release, a self-titled set for Music Man Records in 1969, offered little in the way of focus or memorable material. Its strongest moments surfaced instead on the 45s ‘Each Day’ (1969) and ‘Vietnam Rose’ (1970). By 1974 an expanded configuration added Dave Brooks (saxophone) and Ian Morton (percussion) to the original six-piece, resulting in the album Put A Record On. Even so, the record contained little beyond the reach of a competent bar-room blues outfit and consequently moved few copies. Thanks to the involvement of such recognizable names, both Tramp LPs have since appeared on CD.
