Biography
Travis Shook launched his professional journey with considerable momentum early on, though progress has slowed in subsequent years. His musical path began with piano lessons at the age of seven, followed by a period devoted to heavy metal guitar before a return to the keyboard. During his time at William Paterson College in New Jersey, opportunities arose to collaborate with artists including Benny Golson and Branford Marsalis. Multiple competitions fell to Shook, with the standout victory coming at the 1991 Great American Jazz Piano Competition held during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. His first recording appeared in 1993 as a self-titled Columbia release featuring a quartet alongside Tony Williams and Bunky Green.
