Biography
Tresa Jordan possesses a rich, clear voice well suited to conveying authentic personal experiences. Born in the small coastal town of Melrose, FL, where her father played drums in a local band on weekends, she first stepped onstage at age nine when he invited her to sing with the group—an experience that ignited her ambition to become a musician. She studied for two years at the Florida School of the Performing Arts; upon completion she moved to Nashville, TN, with a close friend in hopes of entering the music business. Before she could gain traction in Music City, she married another aspiring singer-songwriter; the couple raised three children, and Jordan set her career aside to care for them at home. Nearly seven years later the marriage ended in divorce, prompting her to resume songwriting as a way to process the separation and her new beginning. The resulting creative momentum led her to perform again, appearing at clubs across Tennessee and Florida. In 2006 she issued her self-titled debut album on the independent South River Road Records, a collection of heartfelt country songs supported by finely detailed acoustic arrangements. The project earned strong notices in the country and bluegrass press and was reissued the following year by the nationally distributed Aspirion label, with “I Turn to Country” and “Angels Cry” securing radio and video airplay.
