Biography
Originating in Cleveland, Georgia, Trey Ivey channels his piano work into Southern gospel. Formal lessons on the instrument began at age five, opening the door to several genres including classical, yet Southern gospel remained his core focus. Teenage and young-adult years brought stage time with the Old Paths, the Cathedrals, and Mike LeFevre Quartet, after which he moved to Nashville in 2011 and, at 21, assumed the piano chair in Legacy Five vacated by Tim Parton. He contributed to several of the group’s albums across the following three years, then issued his first solo recording. Issued by Stowtown Records in 2015, Timeless featured instrumental treatments of longstanding hymns and gospel numbers, among them “I’ve Got That Old Time Religion in My Heart.”
