Biography
Singer/songwriter and guitarist Trina Hamlin entered the world in the frigid city of Minneapolis, MN. Piano lessons marked her earliest immersion in music during childhood. Local talent contests became her proving ground once she reached first grade, where victories arrived with regularity. Throughout adolescence she kept performing, sharpening technique and accumulating stage time. Following high school she completed a Professional Music degree at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Background vocal work with various bands and commercial jingles occupied much of her schedule by then. Shortly after graduation she relocated to New York City to focus on a full-time music path. Membership in the group Blue Leaves followed, where she contributed vocals and co-wrote material. Despite steady band commitments, her goal remained a solo career.
Her debut solo album, Alone, appeared in 1998. The folk-rock tracks “Keeping Me Whole,” “Half Blind,” “Angel,” and “Flower Days” filled that first release. Several songs later surfaced on the prime-time series Dawson’s Creek. Living Room, her second album, arrived in 2000 and featured “Can’t Put My Finger on It,” “Discontent,” “Down to the Hollow,” and “A Second Thought to Why.” Two years afterward she issued the self-released Foundation via her own website. Beyond folk-rock, her catalog incorporates touches of R&B, country, and blues.
