Biography
Troller, an Austin-based trio, merges shoegaze, goth, industrial, and drone into a potent strain of contemporary darkwave. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2011, with the follow-up Graphic appearing in 2016 and Drain completing a third album in 2023.
Founding members singer/bassist Amber Goers and synthesizer players Adam Jones (of Thousand Foot Whale Claw and the John Carpenter-worshipping quartet S U R V I V E) and Rosemary French launched the project in 2010. Early performances took place in local dive bars, yielding a self-titled cassette on Living Tapes in late 2011. Holodeck Records, a newly established Austin label, reissued the tape in 2012; its vinyl edition the next year drew widespread praise from underground critics. Handmade Birds supplied a CD pressing while the band sustained live activity and shifted toward a denser, more ominous sound. Justin Goers replaced Rosemary French by 2016, the same year Graphic emerged. The group later joined the Relapse Records roster and issued Drain in 2023.
