Tronos

Tronos, an outfit that describes its sound as “ambient psych-doom metal,” unites two widely respected figures from extreme metal. The project originated with prolific British death metal bassist Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Lock Up, Brujeria, Venomous Concept) and hard-hitting Belgian drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, ex-Soilwork). Derived from the Spanish word for “throne,” the endeavor also incorporates Napalm Death producer Russ Russell. Seeking to expand their sonic palette, the three recruited an extensive roster of guest musicians for an uncompromising first album. Issued in 2019 on Century Media, Celestial Mechanics features contributions from Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, Faith No More’s Billy Gould, Voivod’s Denis Belanger, Nuclear Assault’s Dan Lilker, and the Wonder Stuff’s Erica Nockalls.
