Biography
Known for her restrained yet alluring approach and broad range of abilities, Trudy Desmond emerged as a leading figure among Canada's women jazz singers. While building her musical voice, she simultaneously engaged in multiple professions such as acting, operating an interior design firm, creating cabaret and theatrical productions, and managing a venue dedicated to singers. In her performances, Desmond collaborated with ensembles of varying sizes, appearing across intimate venues and larger events throughout Canada and the United States. Multiple record companies released her work, among them Justin Time, Unisson, Jazz Alliance, and Koch. Additionally, her struggle against cancer prompted her to contribute efforts to numerous health-related charitable organizations and support networks. Trudy Desmond passed away during 1999.
