Biography
True Pseudo, a trio rooted in drum'n'bass production, had already become fixtures on the Orange County, CA club circuit. In 2007 John Dadzie, performing as Infiltrata or 12th Planet, and Adam G (Flinch) of Natural Kauses combined their turntable techniques with those of electro devotee Sergio (S.e.r.g) to reach unexpectedly agreeable results. Discovering a shared taste for pop-infused dark rock material, they started reworking tracks by CSS, the Arcade Fire, and MGMT, which placed them among the West Coast’s leading figures. Their sound draws from distorted post-modern rock, ’70s-era funk, French house music, and punk-tinged electro-clash. The three are clearly intent on pushing innovation within an oversaturated electronic landscape. Among their strongest remixes are Snowden’s “Red Handed,” Mt. Sims’ “The Bitten Bite Back,” and their own “Elephone.” After issuing the single Freaking Me Out on Calamity Jane Recordings in April 2009, True Pseudo received energetic dance mixes from German up-and-comer ULTRNX and DC power duo Nadastrom. Their tracks’ appearances on dance compilations and sustained club play show these California beatmakers carving an independent route through electro, with listeners trailing the distinctive pulse they set.
