Biography
Boston outfit Turpentine Brothers delivers gritty yet entertaining garage rock with a soul inflection, an approach that matches a roster containing one half of Mr. Airplane Man and a member of King of Nuthin'. Justin Hubbard, handling vocals and guitar, joined forces with drummer and vocalist Tara McManus to form the act initially as a duo that performed covers at neighborhood clubs and parties. The arrival of bassist and keyboardist Zack Brines expanded the unit into a trio that began composing and performing original material alongside its established covers of Hasil Adkins and Billy "The Kid" Emerson. The Turpentine Brothers also shared bills with like-minded acts such as Dead Moon, the Black Lips, the Lyres, and Flat Duo Jets' Dex Romweber before laying down their debut album, We Don't Care About Your Good Times, which surfaced early in 2005.
