Biography
TV Mania emerged in the mid-'90s as the collaborative project of Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes and Warren Cuccurullo, built around tracks that followed a household fixated on attaining celebrity through reality television, a notion well ahead of its moment. The pair tracked the material during a pause in their primary band, folding broadcast samples into lyrics that touched on religion, fashion, pharmaceuticals, and video games. Once everyday events aligned with the storyline they had imagined, Cuccurullo and Rhodes set the songs aside, only to return to them in the 2010s and issue the collection as Bored with Prozac and the Internet? in 2013 through both digital channels and a limited-edition vinyl box set.
