Biography
Based in Long Island, New York, the indie pop quintet Twin Sister crafts dreamy yet danceable sounds. Vocalist Andrea Estella, bassist Gabe D'Amico, drummer Bryan Ujueta, keyboardist Dev "Udbhav" Gupta, and guitarist (sometimes vocalist) Eric Cardona first connected through separate projects before uniting as a group in 2008. That same year they issued their debut EP, Vampires with Dreaming Kids, on their own. Following an initial out-of-town performance at SXSW, the band joined tours alongside tUnE-YarDs and Xiu Xiu, then completed their second EP, Color Your Life, which appeared in 2010. Domino Records added them to its roster in 2011, issuing the full-length In Heaven that September. Several upheavals marked 2013: Twin Sister severed ties with Domino, Estella received a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and a tour-related car accident in Tallahassee, Florida left the members grateful to have survived. Once they regained stability, the group worked on its next album alongside producer Jon Low and musicians from Ava Luna before adopting the name Mr Twin Sister. The resulting self-titled release, darker and more electronic in tone, surfaced in September 2014.
