Twinsmith

Twinsmith formed as an indie quartet in Omaha and cultivated a bright, laid-back surf-pop sound. Childhood friends Jordan Smith, who handles vocals and guitars, and Matt Regner, who covers vocals, guitar, and keyboards, had previously led a more Americana-leaning project under the name Betsy Wells before deciding to change both their moniker and musical direction. Adopting the new name Twinsmith—a nod to Jordan’s last name and the Minnesota Twins baseball franchise—they added drummer Oliver J. Morgan and bassist Bill Sharp, then tracked their self-titled debut during spring 2013. Shortly after the album appeared, veteran Omaha indie imprint Saddle Creek Records invited the band to cut the 7" single “Honestly.” With the new label relationship secured, Twinsmith devoted 2014 to writing and recording the follow-up Alligator Years, which surfaced in early 2015. Reducing the lineup to a duo, Smith and Regner then partnered with producer Graham Ulciny (the Faint, Reptar) for their third full-length, 2017’s Stay Cool.
