Biography
Operating out of Houston, Texas, Twisted Wires specialize in atmospheric darkwave laced with cinematic tension alongside a measured approach to disco, typically built around blurred guitar textures, rhythmic synth sequences, and resonant, shadowy singing. At the helm stands Richard Durham, the singer and guitarist who maintains prior ties to Indian Jewelry and Light Asylum. The project first surfaced with the captivating 2009 single "One Night at the Raw Deal," issued on Johnny Jewel's respected Italians Do It Better imprint. A period of relative quiet followed until 2013, when "Half Lives" appeared on IDIB's After Dark 2 compilation. Retitled "Struck Twice," the track emerged as a single in 2016, paired with an additional cut called "0000." The CD edition of Half Lives arrived in 2017, adding the previously unreleased track "Man of Steel" while Twisted Wires continued work on their debut album.
