Biography
Ty James, a rapper, singer, and songwriter whose melodic style moves between understated street anthems and smooth R&B ballads, built an early audience through social media uploads before landing a breakthrough in 2019 with “Splash,” his second commercially released single.
Raised in Jeffersonville, Indiana, right across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, he launched his serious efforts by recording in his bedroom and sharing the results on SoundCloud. Those tracks prompted independent label Loyalty Records to contact him, fly him to their New York headquarters, and offer a contract. In 2019 he issued his first commercial releases—“No Option,” “Splash,” and “Temptation.” The aspirational “Splash,” produced by Unheard, advanced farthest, reaching millions of streams within weeks of its February appearance.
