Biography
Hailing from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Tyler Johnson has built a career as a producer and songwriter centered on pop and country, collaborating with P!nk, Taylor Swift, Fun., Miley Cyrus, OneRepublic, Ed Sheeran, and Keith Urban ahead of his transition to solo work. His songwriting began in middle school and continued through college, where he balanced music-theory studies with a prelaw curriculum. After graduation a colleague urged him to set aside plans for a legal career and concentrate on music instead. While working valet parking in Los Angeles, he crossed paths with producer Jeff Bhasker, an encounter that redirected his path. Serving as mentor, Bhasker opened doors to major pop acts while also connecting Johnson with country artists such as Keith Urban and Cam; the latter’s debut album, Untamed, became Johnson’s first major project. Further work followed with Sam Smith and John Legend. In 2017 he produced and co-wrote Harry Styles’ self-titled debut. Johnson introduced his own material in 2018 with the brooding alt-pop single “Give Up on Me.”
