Typhoon

Typhoon, a collective assembled in Portland, Oregon during 2005, produces elaborate and emotionally generous indie rock anthems modeled on Frightened Rabbit, Beirut, Arcade Fire, and Bright Eyes. Under principal vocalist and songwriter Kyle Morton, the ensemble favors intricate and occasionally disjointed compositions enriched by orchestral touches, issuing its self-titled debut that same year, the Dearborn Sessions EP in 2007, and Hunger and Thirst in 2010. The group performed on the David Letterman Show in 2011 to promote the New Kind of House EP and the From Boy Gorilla and Beyond compilation, then delivered its most expansive effort to date, the Roll Call-issued White Lighter, in 2013. Live at Crystal Ballroom, the band’s first concert LP, appeared in 2015, followed by the long-awaited fourth studio album Offerings in January 2018.
