After providing remix and production work for Michael Rose and Kym Mazelle, North London duo Dave Campbell and Viv Beeton formed specifically to issue their own material. Their debut came with ‘Techno Prisoners’, a Detroit-derived mantra built around the hook from Rochelle Fleming’s ‘Love Itch’. Recording costs amounted to just £70 for DAT machine hire, yet the release brought the pair and their local Zoom Records label widespread new attention.
