Biography
Ugly Andz. stands out among U.K. rappers for a freestyle flow paired with dancehall textures. Early in the 2020s he cultivated an online audience by posting music alongside comedy sketches, then drew wider attention and hundreds of thousands of streams with the 2022 single “Foreigner,” which reworked a Tears for Fears sample. Two years later he reached a broader audience when “Yo Bunny” climbed to number five on Billboard’s TikTok Top 50. That same year he also appeared as an actor in the British action-adventure series Supacell.
Andy Thompson, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica and later settled in London, built a social-media following that reached the tens of thousands by his late teens. His first notable lift came from “Foreigner,” a bass-driven track that drew on Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and surfaced on streaming services in early 2022. Additional releases such as “Magnum,” the 2023 Island Dre collaboration “Shelly Ann,” and the lighthearted holiday cut “Jingle” (featuring KrDaGreat and Brandan Duke) helped solidify his reputation.
In the middle of 2024, “Yo Bunny,” produced with prodbycpkshawn and issued on Broke/Hallwood Media, amassed tens of millions of streams and secured the Top Five placement on the Billboard TikTok chart. That June he made his television debut, credited as Andy Thompson, playing the character Twosie in the Netflix series Supacell, which Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu, MBE) created, wrote, and directed; the story centers on working-class Black South Londoners who acquire superpowers. August brought the further single “Heyfever,” recorded with DJ Vibes.
