An indie rock duo based in Los Angeles, Umm comprises Stefanie Drootin and Chris Senseney. Drootin first built her experience on bass and keyboards alongside Bright Eyes, She & Him, and the Good Life during the 2000s, then joined forces with Senseney to launch Big Harp. The project delivered two albums rooted in Americana on Saddle Creek in 2011 and 2013. Recruiting drummer Daniel Ocanto prompted a pivot to a brighter, freer, and more rock-focused direction. Majestic Litter issued the resulting album Waveless in 2015, after which the group launched an extended tour. A subsequent pause led them to part ways with Ocanto, and the pair resurfaced in 2017 under the name Umm. Majestic Litter released the debut single “I’m in Love” in June 2017, followed the next month by the nine-song album Double Worshipper. The record found the duo trading lead vocals across a lean arrangement carrying clear traces of classic 1990s indie.
