Biography
A moniker as elaborate as Undersea Poem belies what is fundamentally a duo supplemented by various contributors. Chris Root and Juju Stulbach form this pair, having earlier comprised two-thirds of the American-Brazilian outfit Mosquitos before parting ways with that ensemble in 2007 following the completion of three albums. Emerging from the remnants of their prior project, Undersea Poem saw its self-titled record composed primarily in a modest Mexican locale during a month-long stay by Root and Stulbach, who share both a personal and professional bond, relying on "guitar, bass, a reverb pedal, coconuts, magic mushrooms," as Root recounted. Their inaugural self-titled effort appeared in 2010, aided by co-producer Scott Hollingsworth who expanded the arrangements through multiple instrumental contributions.
