Biography
Two decades after North London's brooding, ballad-heavy alt-rockers Dream City Film Club disbanded, Michael J. Sheehy and Alex Vald launched United Sounds of Joy. The pair borrowed certain sonic ideas from their earlier band while folding electronica textures into the sound, characterizing the venture as "coming on like Joe Meek and Goldfrapp entangled in some ancient machinery." Under this new name the duo issued their self-titled debut studio album on Bronzerat Records in early 2016.
