Uptown Sinclair fused prominent pop stylists with uncommon alternative perspectives to reveal forceful rock ideas centered chiefly on expert guitar work. Dave Hill, serving as frontman, and guitarist Tim Parnin founded the Cleveland group with a shared resolve to surpass conventional pop boundaries. Having previously collaborated in Sons of Elvis, the pair chose to merge their developed skills once that band dissolved. Rob Pfeiffer, formerly of Sense Field, joined next on drums at the moment the lineup resolved to cut its debut album. Mr. Colson, whose earlier credits included the Urge and Walt Mink, then stepped forward to produce the material. The band soon entered Smart Studios, where it issued an eight-song demo that ultimately became the EP Uptown Sinclair. Bassist Bill Watterson completed the roster in 2001, ahead of the group’s first extensive national tour.
