Urne stands as an English power trio whose expansive sound draws from progressive, death, doom, sludge, stoner, groove, hardcore, thrash, and post-metal elements to forge a singular strain of sonic malevolence. Their inaugural full-length release, Serpent & Spirit from 2021, merged forceful, chugging riffs with winding, serpentine arrangements, whereas the follow-up A Feast on Sorrow in 2023 plunged further into darkness, infusing the band's fluid extreme metal with lyrics centered on death and illness.

The group originated in London during 2016, emerging from the remnants of the doomy metalcore outfit Hang the Bastard, and features vocalist and bassist Joe Nally alongside guitarist Angus Neyraafter and drummer Richard Wiltshire. Referencing Metallica, Death, Gojira, Alice In Chains, and Mastodon among their touchstones, the trio launched their independent debut EP The Mountain of Gold in 2018. They secured a contract with Candlelight Records prior to unveiling their first album, the edgy 2021 sludge-thrash work Serpent & Spirit. Two years afterward, Urne delivered A Feast on Sorrow, an intricate and emotionally layered collection shaped by the members' personal encounters with suffering and loss.
