Biography
An American punk revival outfit inspired by the classic early British punk sound, the U.S. Bombs came together around vocalist Duane Peters, guitarists Chuck Briggs and Kerry Martinez, bassist Wade Walston, and drummer Chip Hanna. After signing to Alive, the band issued a self-titled EP and the album Garibaldi Guard! in 1996, then delivered Never Mind the Opened Minds the following year. A move to the Epitaph subsidiary Hellcat later in 1997 yielded War Birth, while 1999 brought the three-song TKO EP Hobroken Dreams, the full-length The World on Hellcat, and Alive’s Put Strength in the Final Blow, an album originally released in 1995. Chuck Briggs left and was succeeded by Jonny Wickersham, formerly of Youth Brigade. Entering the new millennium, the U.S. Bombs appeared revitalized and issued their fifth studio album, Back at the Laundromat, in early 2001. The live set Lost in America: Live 2001 arrived a year afterward, followed by Covert Action in early 2003. That same year, Peters’ own Disaster Records reissued Put Strength in the Final Blow with fresh artwork, expanded liner notes, and the band’s long-out-of-print debut 7" appended. We Are the Problem appeared next in 2006 via Sailor’s Grave.
