Biography
In spring 1998 the math rock outfit Utah! assembled around Eddie Pellino on guitar and vocals, Eric Singer on baritone guitar and vocals, Anne Polesnak on cello, and Mickey D'Loughy on drums. The quartet played shows throughout their hometown region of Kalamazoo, Michigan, before sharing bills on larger stages with Haymarket Riot, Aloha, Ultimate Fakebook, and Guided by Voices. A contract with Arborvitae was signed in late 2000, leading to studio work with Bob Weston of Archers of Loaf and Sebadoh. Their self-titled EP surfaced before the year ended, while the first full-length Zoo Sounds & Destructovision arrived in spring 2001. Singer departed the lineup in early 2002.
