Biography
Vladislav Delay followed the early 2000 techno-dub album Entain and the run of Luomo releases that appeared across the same year by issuing a complete album under the Uusitalo alias. Called Vapaa Muurari, the set presents another round of techno-dub material whose overall character closely mirrors Entain and gives the impression of assembled outtakes or remaining material from those sessions. Regardless of that origin, the results remain exceptional. On the CD edition Delay blends several pieces in continuous DJ style, whereas the vinyl pressing presents the same tracks in unmixed form. Distinct from the ambient, loose approach of the Chain Reaction catalog, the more track-oriented and house-leaning Luomo output, and the dub-oriented sprawl of the Mille Plateaux album Anima, the Uusitalo aesthetic leans further toward techno and carries a sharp, mechanical quality.
