Biography
Vagabond Angels, an adaptable indie rock outfit from Chicago led by vocalist Rikki Lee Travolta and multi-instrumentalist Joey Broman, surfaced in the late 2010s with a style fusing rock, pop, and country. Their opening release, Man on Fire, arrived in 2019.
The group drew on an eclectic range of influences—the Chainsmokers, Jason Mraz, Bon Jovi, Darius Rucker, Goo Goo Dolls, Garth Brooks, and John Mellencamp—while being founded by Broman, an actor, choir director, music instructor, church organist, and founding member of the Kranes and Elephant Gun, together with Rikki Lee Travolta, a talented singer who has appeared in nationally headlining productions of the Broadway musicals Rent, West Side Story, and Bye Bye Birdie. Vagabond Angels issued their first full-length effort, Man on Fire, in 2019, followed by the single "Romeo Room" in 2020. The band kept up the momentum in 2021 with a steady stream of songs, including "Quarterstruck," "Here with Me," and "Connection."
