Vaguess

Vinny Vaguess, a songwriter based in California, channels punchy garage punk material laced with keyboards through his band Vaguess, exploring anxiety, frustration, life, death, and additional subjects. The tracks deliver volume and hooks with directness, seldom stretching beyond one or two minutes, although they occasionally tilt into melodic power pop terrain. Vaguess has operated with anywhere from one to four musicians besides Vinny, Miles Lutrell of Useless Eaters regularly supplying drums. The project began in 2007, apparently as a joke, then resurfaced in 2012 with the Back Off Warchild EP. Live performances started in 2013, the same year the full-length Drift Brain came out on Refry Records. Material from the group’s early tapes was assembled for the 2015 LP Bodhi Collection on Sinderlyn. The twenty-minute full-length Guilt Ring arrived in 2017.
