Valhalla, a symphonic rock ensemble, cut a single album on the United Artists label. Keyboards in this Long Island outfit were handled by Mark Mangold, who has since become a noted AOR personality; the group stuck to covering local venues until their managers urged them to generate their own songs in pursuit of a deal. It was during this period that the youthful Mangold refined his craft as a songwriter and cultivated an affinity for synthesizers and mellotrons, influences he later brought to American Tears, his subsequent project. That band transformed into Touch, while Mangold went on to establish Drive, She Said and collaborate with figures such as Aldo Nova and Randy Jackson. Among his compositions is the faux metal hit "I Found Someone," co-written for Cher alongside Michael Bolton.
