Biography
In the middle of the 2010s, Spanish indie rock outfit Valparadiso emerged with a clear fondness for power pop and alternative rock of the nineties. Assembled in Zaragoza, the group was founded by singer/guitarist Simón Franco, guitarist Alberto Solobera, bass player David Idoipe, and drummer Pedro Presa. Early in 2016 the band secured a Sony Music contract that yielded its debut single, “Rojo.” That April the self-titled full-length album, produced by Ramiro Nieto and Luca Petricca, entered Spain’s Top 100 albums chart. Later the same summer the La Isla EP arrived, containing acoustic renditions of four tracks from the record.
