Founded by vocalist Michael "Vampire" Orlando, the Los Angeles-based group Vampires Everywhere! blended post-hardcore and screamo into a sound steeped in gothic atmosphere. Orlando launched the project in 2009 after drawing inspiration from films such as The Lost Boys, aiming to channel the core traits associated with the legendary creatures. Completing the original roster were guitarists Zak Dunn and Aaron Graves, keyboardist Jay Killa, bassist Alexander Rogue, and drummer David Darko. Their performances fused the propulsive energy typical of the style with heightened theatricality and horror-film aesthetics. The band issued its debut EP, Lost in the Shadows, in 2010 and followed it the next year with the full-length Kiss the Sun Goodbye on Century Media. After supporting the 2012 release Hellbound and Heartless, the ensemble dissolved at the close of 2013. A short-lived detour under the name the Killing Lights ended when the group resumed activity as Vampires Everywhere! in early 2015. The final album, Ritual, appeared in March 2016. The project concluded once more by year’s end, prompting Orlando to establish Dead Girls Academy.
