The moniker Van Andrew identifies Nashville-based singer/songwriter Andrew Berkmeyer, who first drew widespread attention through his run as a Season 19 contestant on The Voice. Hailing from Northwest Washington, Berkmeyer had already cultivated a following as a working musician by the time he auditioned for the program. His style fuses indie rock, folk, pop, and country, yielding a series of singles throughout 2018 and the EP Half the Man the following year. During his 2020 appearance on The Voice he earned a spot on Gwen Stefani’s team after delivering a striking take on the Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes.” Mountain Men, his second EP, surfaced earlier that same year, and in 2022 he dropped the streaming success “Sad Cowboys and Rock and Roll,” which included a cameo from indie folk singer/songwriter Victoria Bigelow.
