Biography
Vancougar came together in Vancouver in 2003, drawing equal influence from the raw energy of classic punk and the catchy melodies of retro girl group pop. Vocalist/guitarist Eden Fineday fronted the group alongside bassist Becca Stewart, keyboardist Megan Johnson, and drummer CC Rose, who also played with the Pink Mountaintops. The following year the quartet issued a self-released demo CD that earned heavy rotation on college stations across Canada plus praise from local outlets and broadcasters. That response prompted sessions at Vancouver’s Hive Creative Labs studio, where the band finished its official debut album, Losin’ It, in four days. Scratch Records put out Losin’ It in early 2007; the hard-edged pop sound created enough interest for Vancougar to sign with the Canadian label Mint Records. After a U.S. tour, the group tracked its first Mint release at JC/DC Studios, and Canadian Tuxedo appeared in July 2008.
