Biography
Vange Leonel's breakthrough came in 1991 when her debut album Vange propelled the track "Noite Preta" to the pinnacle of Brazilian charts nationwide. TV Globo selected this number for the theme song of its soap opera Vamp. Recognition followed in 1992 through the Sharp prize, which honored her as the pop/rock discovery of the year. Beyond music, Leonel gained acclaim for her contributions to lesbian-focused publications and released the volume Lésbicas during 1999. Her dramatic work As Sereias da Rive Gauche premiered at the São Paulo Cultural Center in 2000.
