Hailing from New Jersey, the five-piece post-hardcore outfit Vanish crafts an intense, emotionally charged blend of emo, pop-punk, and metalcore elements, a style showcased across their first full-length effort, Familiar Faces, which appeared in 2019.

The group came together in August 2016 in Old Bridge, New Jersey, when vocalist Patrick Hamilton joined forces with guitarists Bobby Miller and Justin Beacham, bassist Jack Hinson, and drummer Nick Perrone. Having crossed paths repeatedly over the preceding years and collaborated in earlier projects, the musicians drew inspiration from prominent local acts such as Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance, and Armor for Sleep. In contrast to many peers who aligned strictly with either the brighter pop-punk or more aggressive metalcore scenes, they pursued a hybrid approach that bridged both sides. Their initial singles, "Only in My Head" and "Dead," leaned heavily metallic, yet the July 2017 release of their debut EP, From Sheep to Wolves, via Outerloop Records, revealed a shift toward heightened drama and feeling, incorporating additional melodic passages that offset the breakdowns while highlighting Hamilton’s piercing vocal range. The EP drew interest from Hopeless Records, which inked the band in 2018 and put out Familiar Faces the next year. Fronted by the track "Role Play," the album presented some of their most tuneful and approachable material yet.
