Biography
A supergroup uniting key figures from contemporary punk circles, Vanishing Life includes vocalist and guitarist Walter Schreifels, previously active in Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, and Rival Schools, alongside Rise Against guitarist and vocalist Zach Blair, as well as ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead drummer and guitarist Jamie Miller and bassist Autry Fulbright II. The project originated at 2013's Groezrock Festival after Fulbright pitched the concept to Schreifels and Thursday's Geoff Rickly. Although Rickly ultimately stepped aside owing to prior obligations, demo recordings began making the rounds among the remaining participants, leading Blair to join following that year's Fun Fun Fun Fest. The musicians convened in one space for the first time to track their initial single, People Running, completing the sessions across two days. Collect Records, the label Rickly had started and that Texas Is the Reason's Norman Brannon ran, issued People Running in October 2014. Barely two years after assembling, the quartet put out its first album, Surveillance, via Dine Alone Records in November 2016.
