Biography
Vanmakt, a black metal outfit from Sweden, originated in 2006 when Gorgoth took on screams, guitar, and drum programming alongside Vladr on bass. Their name, which translates as “powerless,” carries an ironic undertone, and the group draws its main influence from the Norwegian legends Emperor, channeling that source into compositions that are profoundly satanic, savagely frenetic, yet grandiose and partly symphonic in character. The 2006 demo Diaboli Lubeo, Para Vindicta attracted interest from assorted independent labels, yet Vanmakt ultimately chose to sign with Pulverised Records in Singapore, recruiting sympathetic session players Aamoth and Graal for the debut album Vredskapta Mörkersagor (2007) before bringing in M. Wohlfart on guitar and Liedheim on drums for the follow-up Ad Luciferi Regnum (2009).
