Vegas Demilo

San Francisco quartet Vegas DeMilo blends guitar-driven alt-rock that fuses Guided By Voices’ off-kilter charm with Everclear’s riff-heavy punch. Its lineup features Foster Calhoun on vocals and guitar, Alec Johnson on bass, vocals, and keyboards, Gabe McCurdy on drums and vocals, and Scotti Fraser on guitar and vocals. Calhoun and Johnson formed the group in 1997 after years of playing together since their teens, and the newly assembled band put out a self-titled debut that same year. Their follow-up, Before it Gets Old, arrived in March 1999 and earned regional radio exposure plus praise from Billboard, BAM, and Music Connection. The band’s third album, Motel California, surfaced in September 2001.
