Biography
The Alwood sisters, Amy and Meagan, launched their musical partnership in 1998 by performing as an acoustic duo throughout Columbus, Ohio. Most of the original material came from Amy’s pen. Interest from several area musicians in forming a larger ensemble eventually led them to expand beyond the initial two-person format. A stable lineup only emerged once the group entered the studio to cut its debut album, Marveline. Guitarist Josh Kayser, bassist Jon Beard, and drummer Annia Light-Brown participated in those sessions. Kayser and Beard both departed shortly afterward, yet Emily Allen joined on bass in 2000 and the band made no effort to fill the vacant guitar chair.
