Biography
Chicago's Very Truly Yours craft heartfelt, honeyed melodies that invite comparisons with outfits such as the School and Allo Darlin', along with key indie-pop forebears including the Softies and Heavenly. In summer 2008 Kristine Capua, previously of the Lorimer Sound, joined forces with Lisle Mitnik on guitar, Dan Hyatt on bass, and Andy Rogers on drums to launch the quartet. Only months afterward the band drew notice among indie-pop enthusiasts by sharing a bill with the Pains of Being Pure at Heart before a sold-out crowd at Schubas in February 2009. Throughout the ensuing year Very Truly Yours appeared on several compilations, among them All the Girls I've Ever Loved for Pop Song Romance and Starting Anew on the WeePOP! label; issued a split EP with Understudies through Cloudberry Records; and put out their own debut EP, Reminders. Their first full-length album, Things You Used to Say, arrived on Skywriting Records during spring 2010, shortly before the group performed at New York Popfest.
