Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Vicente Avella maintains an active career as both pianist and composer by balancing multiple concurrent projects and roles, much as musicians have done across generations to support themselves. He received his first formal piano instruction only at age 17, yet had already composed rock songs for his own use and for friends while still in high school. At 20 he entered a piano performance degree program at Indiana University and later completed a master’s degree in composition at the Eastman School of Music.

Thereafter Avella contributed to music production for the television programs Family Guy and American Dad, composes scores for independent films, serves as music director at several churches, and teaches courses for Berklee College of Music Online Extension. He also appears as a soloist and with chamber ensembles in the Los Angeles area.

Guided by Will Ackerman of Windham Hill, he issued his debut album, All the Days of My Life: The Wedding Album, in 2013. The recording presented his original compositions together with contemporary-styled arrangements of familiar wedding classics. His music has received recognition from contemporary music organizations, including an ASCAP award each year from 2006 through 2013.
