Biography
Determining a precise genre for Vicky Pratt Keating proves challenging, much like attempting straightforward analogies to fellow musicians. She characterizes her approach as "whimsical mystical acoustic," a description that suits it aptly. Influences from artists such as Kate Bush, David Byrne, and Nanci Griffith can be detected within her compositions, yet her distinct originality renders such associations inadequate, comparable to characterizing ice cream merely as cold. Following her relocation from Washington D.C. in 1999, she now resides in Sedona, Arizona. Prior to this transition, she altered her professional name; having issued Blue Apples via Allegro as Vicky Pratt Keating, she independently put out This Guardian at Noon as Vyktoria Pratt Keating during 1997. Her live performances have featured her supporting Dave Matthews and Mary Chapin Carpenter, in addition to serving as the opening act for Jethro Tull throughout their tour spanning August to October of 1999. Armed with incisive songwriting and a supple soprano, she appears destined to shape her musical path independently.
