The música sertaneja sibling duo Victor & Leo attained mainstream recognition throughout Brazil in 2007 via Sony BMG’s issuance of Ao Vivo em Uberlândia. Originating from Ponte Nova in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where Vitor Chaves Zapalá Pimentel and Leonardo Chaves Zapalá Pimentel were born, the pair had already logged years as working musicians well before that commercial breakthrough. Their first album together, the 2002 release Victor e Leo, was followed by Vida Boa in 2004; that effort performed more strongly and marked them as an up-and-coming música sertaneja act. The track “Fada” drew particular attention. Released in 2006, Ao Vivo caught the ear of Sony BMG, which promptly offered the duo a major-label deal and issued Ao Vivo em Uberlândia the next year. Sharing the musical character of its independently released predecessor—an album widely pirated—the 2007 project introduced fresh material such as “Fotos” and was made available on both DVD and CD.
