Biography
The Viletones emerged in the 1970s as a Canadian rock outfit whose sound merged alternative pop/rock elements with traces of punk. Founding members included vocalist and songwriter Steve Leckie alongside guitarist Freddie Pompeii, bassist Chris Hate, and drummer Motor X. Leckie later assembled a new configuration featuring guitarist Steve Koch, bassist Sam Ferrara, and drummer Tony Vincent.
Throughout the closing years of the 1970s and the opening years of the 1980s, the group issued the EP Look Back in Anger together with the albums Saturday Night, Sunday Morning and Live at Max's; all three recordings received reissues during the 1990s. In 1996 Leckie and his revised lineup completed the album Taste of Honey for Other People's Records, a collection that contained the tracks "Never Feel Sad," "Does She Jump," "Won't You Let Me," "Little Girl," "Dog Style," and "Rebel." Two years afterward Leckie pursued a solo project with the release of What It Feels Like to Kill.
