Biography
Jim Konen, an artist from the Detroit vicinity, launched the visionEar project during 1998. His aim was to fuse electronica and rock with lighting and video elements, thereby producing a singular hybrid absent from the marketplace. That year saw the release of the Primer EP, followed in 1999 by the digThesis album. Performing throughout the Detroit region, the Pontiac, MI native employed his realtime performance module, or RMP, an interface that heightens the music via synchronized lighting. In 2002 the Pontiac-based imprint Future Records issued his second full-length Future Sans, extending the reach of his artistic approach. Outside visionEar, Konen directs Future Records and maintains the additional projects Detroit Improv Duo, Feztone, and EM.
